The 70’s and 80’s genres of disco, soft rock, and especially classic rock don’t seem to have faded away at all in the recent years. It still seems to brilliantly gain new fans, as well as continue to bring back the original fans who grew up on it. Some would say the genres have been enjoying success based on nostalgia, and many fresh new artists are also entering the scene.
The city of Agoura Hills seems to be taking part in the celebration of these bands, as many of them will be performing throughout the next several months at the iconic Canyon Club, located at 28912 Roadside Drive, right in the heart of Agoura Hills. Fans of the 70’s and 80’s need to look no further than at this venue right here. 70’s guitar icon Pat Travers will come with his well-renowned solo band on November 29th. Vince Neil, the frontman of Mötley Crüe, will bring November to a close, with his celebration of 80’s hair metal, accompanied by his solo band on November 30th.
Fans of both decades will know their winter will be full of plenty of classic rock. Nancy Wilson, the former guitarist of Heart, as well as sister vocalist Ann Wilson, will be journeying to the Canyon on December 6th. On December 7th, Y&T, the famous hard rock band who toured with rock icons such as Ozzy Oxbourne, AC/DC, and Aerosmith, will also make an appearance.
For any fans of the 80’s synth pop / new wave genre, new wave giant Berlin will perform at the Canyon on December 8th. However, if you’re looking for a celebration of the 80’s as an entire decade, pay a visit to the Canyon on December 16 for the tribute band Fast Times, appropriately titled after the 80’s Sean Penn starring teen movie mega hit of the same name. However, if disco is more of your style, celebrate the 70’s with the tribute band Boogie Knights on December 22nd. Rounding out Christmas and New Year’s celebrations includes 70’s soul rock band legend Ambrosia on December 28th, and iconic Queen tribute band Queen Nation on December 31st.
If these mere 2 months are any indication, 2019 will promise to also be just as, if not more of an engaging year near the Calabasas area as far as oldies are concerned. A number of future concerts are already listed on the Canyon’s website. One date that will be sure to get many seats packed, is world-renowned original guitarist of Kiss, Ace Frehley, who will be playing the Canyon on January 26th with his solo band, in honor of his recently released and critically acclaimed 8th solo album, Spaceman.
